Southampton, NY—The Ellen Hermanson Foundation has awarded Southampton Hospital two grants totaling $275,355 to fund technology and patient support services at The Ellen Hermanson Breast Center. The amount $105,000 will be applied to the purchase of a Tomosynthesis 3-D Imaging System at the Medical Atrium in Hampton Bays, and $170,355 will fund Ellen’s Well services including an oncological social worker, the annual “Day of Renewal and Hope,” and restorative services in yoga, water exercise, acupuncture, massage therapy, reflexology, and meditation among others.
The Foundation’s support of Tomosynthesis in Hampton Bays has provided convenient access for patients who live in communities west of the Shinnecock Canal, and enabled the Hospital to invest in new technology to assure correct and timely diagnosis and treatment. The Foundation, through its Ellen’s Well program, has always understood the critical need for services that support patients and their families during their treatment and recovery.
In making the announcement, Hospital President and CEO, Robert Chaloner comments, “The support provided by the Ellen Hermanson Foundation and Ellen’s Well from the beginning of the Hospital’s breast health program has benefitted thousands of women. From the diagnostic technology to the many other services enabled through the Foundation’s generosity, we have been fortunate to have a very generous foundation on our side.
