Medical Student Clinical Rotations

Thank you for your interest in our clinical rotation program at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital (SBSH). Applications for the 2026–2027 academic year will open in March. Please check back for full application details and step-by-step instructions.

Program Overview

SBSH is a teaching hospital committed to providing a fully hands-on clinical learning experience for final-year medical students. Our rotations are designed to immerse students in real-world patient care while working closely with experienced attending physicians and residents in a supportive academic environment.

Each rotation is four (4) weeks in length, allowing students to become active members of the clinical team. Requests for rotations shorter than four weeks cannot be accommodated.

During the rotation, students participate in direct patient care activities appropriate to their level of training, gaining practical experience across inpatient and outpatient settings while developing clinical reasoning, procedural skills, and professional confidence.

Rotation Options

We offer a limited number of Audition Rotations and Elective Rotations each year. Due to high demand, a $50.00 non-refundable application fee is required. Applications will be reviewed only after payment has been received. Payment may be made by check or credit card.
