Our program aims to offer a comprehensive and well-rounded graduate medical education experience across a variety of clinical disciplines, equipping residents with the skills and knowledge they need for their future specialty.

Didactics

Graduate Medical Education is to provide trainees a structures didactic experience throughout training.

Morning Report

Morning reports are resident –run lectures that will take place in person and via teams every Monday and Tuesday from 7-8 AM on the third floor-teaching center. Precepted by Dr. Arcoleo. 

• Mondays of the block will be inter driven where interns will go over the most pertinent clinical findings of the assigned topic, as well as any new research/review questions.
• Tuesdays of the block will be senior/night senior driven where the senior will go over an interesting case of their choice. 

Thursday EKG Rounds 

EKG/cardiology sessions with Dr. McGlynn takes place in-person only every Thursday from 7-8AM on 3rd floor teaching center.  

Friday Case conferences 

Case conferences will be held in person and via teams every Fridays from 7-8AM on the 3rd floor teaching center.

• IM residents and FM seniors will be required to give these lectures.
• In general, Dr. Spiegel have been kind enough to precept many of our case conferences with alternating weeks. 

Wednesday Lectures

• These lectures are in-person that will be scheduled and coordinated by GME department.
• They will take place in the ANNEX from 7-12PM with the exception of GME Grand Rounds which will take place from 7-8AM at the Duke Auditorium on the Campus.
• This is PROTECTED TIME for the residents, and you will not be obligated to answer pages during this time. 
• The MAR, ICU Senior and one of the Medical team seniors will be excused from lectures and will be able to Teams in.

Journal Club

Lectures will be embedded within these afternoon lectures typically the first Friday of each block.
