Ellen Hermanson Foundation Announces 2016 Grants

The Ellen Hermanson Foundation has announced it is awarding $260,000 in grants to The Ellen Hermanson Breast Center at Southampton Hospital and Ellen’s Well, a program that provides psychosocial support to breast cancer survivors throughout the East End.

The grant to The Ellen Hermanson Breast Center will fund a state-of-the-art high resolution ultrasound machine to provide essential ultrasound diagnostic services.

The grant to Ellen’s Well will provide funding for more than 300 breast cancer survivors to attend support groups and programs that focus on wellness, anxiety, stress reduction, and mindfulness.

Robert Chaloner, President and CEO of Southampton Hospital, said, “The Ellen Hermanson Breast Center is the jewel in the crown” of the Hospital. “Our partnership has been a model for how organizations can collaborate to touch and save lives.”

“With deep roots in the local community, the Foundation is committed to keeping the money it raises on the East End where it can do the most good,” said Julie Ratner, Foundation president. “Its goal is to make access to care available to everyone regardless of their personal resources or health insurance status.”

The Ellen Hermanson Foundation serves the East End of Long Island, where breast cancer diagnosis and mortality rates are among the highest in New York State. Ellen’s Run is the signature fundraising vehicle for the Foundation along with other events in the Hamptons.
