Peconic Landing Volunteers Knit, Donate Red Hats for Newborns in Hospital's Maternity Center

Southampton, NY—To celebrate the American Heart Association’s ‘Go Red for Women’ campaign, volunteers from Peconic Landing in Greenport knitted and donated red hats for newborns born in February at the Kathleen D. Allen Maternity Center at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital. The volunteers, along with American Heart Association Regional Director Barbara Poliwoda, delivered the hats on Wednesday, February 7. Their gift was part of a program known as ‘Little Hats, Big Hearts,’ which is designed to empower mothers to live heart-healthy lives and to help their children do the same in honor of American Heart Month, which raises awareness of heart disease.
