The Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine (ONMM3) program at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital is designed exclusively for residents who have completed an accredited primary residency. This one-year advanced training offers an additional opportunity for those seeking board certification in ONMM3.
The program places a strong emphasis on several key areas, including the social determinants of health, the biopsychosocial model, and cultural sensitivity. These focuses ensure that residents are equipped to deliver outstanding, patient-centered care in a wide variety of settings, addressing the diverse needs of the populations they serve.
The curriculum is organized into 13 block rotations, each lasting four weeks. While the specific rotations may vary slightly from year to year, they will generally follow the structure outlined below.
Electives vary between12-16 weeks. Here are some examples of prior elective rotations: Addiction Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, Internal Medicine, Integrative Medicine, Hospice and Palliative Care, Neurology, Radiology MSK as well as incorporating resident’s preferences.
