Description

Arthritis can severely affect a person’s hands and their ability to do everyday tasks.  Occupational Therapists from Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s Physical Therapy Department will talk about the disease process along with the management of the condition.  They’ll present therapeutic exercises, modalities and orthotic positioning to assist with daily activities.  Demonstrations of the use of paraffin, orthotic devices and adaptive equipment will show how daily function can be improved.  They will also discuss and answer questions on specific hand and upper extremity problems.  This program is of special interest for those who find golfing and tennis to be more of a challenge as they age.  For information and to register please call (631) 283-0774.
